Meet The Team: Tom
This month we interviewed Tom, our friendly Correspondence Developer who’s responsible for making sure we can contact our customers. When he isn’t working, there’s nothing Tom loves more than listening to music, going to gigs and riding round in his VW camper!
Tell us about your role at FWG?
As a Correspondence developer, I create and maintain all the communications that go out from the business to the customers. That could be a letter in the post, SMS to your phone or even a message to the Financial Wellness Group App.
What led you to this role?
I’ve worked in IT for over 10 years in different roles and always liked to challenge myself with something new, so working at FWG where you have the opportunity to progress and learn new technologies was something, I was keen to get on board with.
What is the best thing about being part of the correspondence team?
We’re a close-knit team, who always have each other’s backs. It’s nice to work in a team where everyone gets on with everyone and is working in the same direction.
What’s been the biggest improvement you have seen in the way in which we communicate with customers over the last 12 -18 months?
It has to be our CRM improvements, this allows us to automate a large percentage of the communications sent out to the customer, this gives us more time to work on a better product for our customers and improve what we already have.
What’s a topic you wish you knew more about?
Astronomy
What’s the best concert you have ever been to?
Has to be the Foo Fighters at Manchester Apollo in 2000, only cost me £11 for a ticket.
If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Foo Fighters: Times Like These
What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not working?
Probably camping in my 30yr old VW camper and going to gigs and festivals.
If you missed it last month, don’t forget to read about our fantastic colleague, Calvin!
