Meet the team: Elle
Our horror-fanatic colleague, Elle, couldn’t have been a more fitting choice for this month’s Halloween, Meet the Team. When she isn’t smashing her role as Review Team Leader, inspiring colleagues and supporting customers, there’s nothing she enjoys more than playing the piano, binging TV series’ and dreaming of Mohicans making a fashion comeback- you go, Elle, we think you’d rock it!
Tell us about your role at Financial Wellness Group?
I am a Review Team Leader, which means I manage a team of Review Specialists. My role is all about helping them do the best possible job supporting customers through their annual reviews – so it’s mostly about creating a positive and supportive environment, with lots of coaching and feedback. I am also always on hand to answer any questions that may come up during a review and I often ‘live listen’ into calls to help ensure best practice.
What is your favourite part of your role?
I’m fortunate to enjoy nearly everything about my role but helping and supporting my colleagues and our customers is my favourite part. I love making a difference, whether that’s through one-on-one coaching, levelling sessions, helping colleagues improve their skillsets and confidence, or improving experiences for our customers. I also love my (not-so) little team, which helps!
What skill do you think everyone should have?
On a serious level, the ability to play devil’s advocate and see things from other perspectives, there’s not enough of that around. On a less serious level, the ability to make me a decent brew- there are even fewer with this skillset knocking about!
If you could bring back any fashion trend, what would it be?
There’s such a resurgence of different eras at the moment that it’s difficult to think of one that hasn’t come back. But I am a heavy metal fan so… Mohicans?
If you could change places with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
Andre the Giant, so I wouldn’t have to ask strangers to get my diet coke from the top shelf for me in supermarkets anymore. It would be nice to be at the other end of the height spectrum for a little bit.
If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?
I’d love to say the piano because I play and I love it, but the idea of teaching something I don’t know everything about makes me feel anxious, in which case I’d probably have to say Review, pretty much what I do on a day-to-day basis.
Last TV series you watched?
I’ve usually got 2 or 3 series on the go at once, but I’ve just recently finished the most recent series of Creepshow on Shudder, which is basically Stephen King meets Twilight Zone, meets 80s B-movie – I highly recommend it to any horror fans.
What’s the best advice that you’ve ever had?
When I started on my journey to becoming a manager and was seriously questioning my life choices, one of my best friends (Nicolle) wrote me a card saying, “greatness begins at the end of our comfort zone”, and that’s something that’s always stayed with me.
