Meet the team: Dan

We were lucky enough to speak to Dan this month, one of the newest members of our team. Like most colleagues at Financial Wellness Group, Dan has big aspirations for the future and we’re delighted to be part of his journey. But when it comes to his dreams of skydiving and visiting Middle Earth, we’re sad to say, he’s on his own!

What is your role at Financial Wellness Group?

My role is as a Junior Customer Relationship Management developer. I am responsible for helping to design and build the letters and emails that we send to customers, and to ensure that they are triggered at the correct times.  We work closely with our Advice and Customer Service colleagues to ensure that we’re sending customers the information that they need, at the time they need it, and in the format that works best for them.

How did you transition into your role?

Having recently graduated, this is my first job in IT development. I am looking to build my skills and experience to allow me to progress.

What is your favourite thing about your role?

Being really new in the job, every day is a new challenge – there is so much to learn about the software and the system that we work with, as well as our customers and Financial Wellness Group.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I would like to be a Senior Developer, making use of my SQL and HTML skills, ideally.

What are your 15 minutes of fame?

I don’t know if it counts but when I was a student, I gave a presentation at an academic conference that was broadcasting live.

What fictional place would you like to visit?

I love both Warhammer Old World and Lord of the Rings, but if I had to choose it would be Edoras in Lord of the Rings. Not only is it out in the country but I love the style of the buildings, and it has the golden halls, which sounds really cool.

What’s something you’re planning on doing in the next year that you’ve never done?

I would like to try sky diving as it’s something I’ve always wanted to do.

What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?

Finch was something new I watched recently – I didn’t know much about the film beforehand only that Tom Hanks was in it and he had a robot and a dog that travelled with him. The interactions between the three characters are priceless – they are really good at playing off each other, not only for the funny parts but the more serious parts as well. Overall a funny film that has a serious tone when you strip it back.
