Things to do at Easter

You know what Easter means, don’t you? It means you can eat as many chocolate eggs as you like without feeling guilty! After many long and very rainy months, Easter and Bank Holidays are an opportunity to explore fun activities, entertain the kids and enjoy warmer evenings. But if you’re struggling to think of ways to make this time feel different, we’ve got you covered.

Have a BBQ

An April heatwave is coming our way which means, you guessed it, BBQs! Invite the family around, stock up on your favourite foods and get the barbie going. And don’t worry, you can do it on the cheap- take a trip to the reduced isle and find some discounted ingredients that are just as tasty.

Decorate Eggs

This was one of my favourite Easter activities as a child and even as an adult, it’s an opportunity to have fun, be creative and do something different. If you’re new to it, it’s really simple. All you need to do is hard boil some eggs, get your hands on some arts and crafts materials – such as paint, glitter and felt- and decorate away. If you want to make it even more interesting, select a prize for the best egg!

Join local Easter-egg hunts and trails

The National Trust hosts Easter adventures and nature trails right across the country which are perfect for the kids. These family-friendly activities – which require advanced booking – will feature fun-filled Easter trails and activities, prizes and Easter egg hunts, not to mention, idyllic and picturesque settings. It’s a perfect day out for the whole family.

Get Baking

Is there anything better than freshly baked cupcakes or cookies straight from the oven? Baking can be messy, but it’s creative, family-friendly and usually super cheap. Before you head to the supermarket, check your cupboards and pull out your baking essentials: such as flour, baking powder, butter and chocolate powder. Search for your favourite recipe(s), get the kids involved, and get baking…they’ll love it.

Have a cute movie night

I think it’s fair to say we’ve all watched our fair share of movies and TV shows during the winter, but there are ways to make it feel like an Easter treat.  First things first, pick a film, preferably one you’ve never seen before. Pick up cinema essentials from the supermarket or raid your cupboards for goodies such

as popcorn, sweets and nachos. Next, grab some blankets, duvets and cushions and create your very own den on the living room floor, complimented with fairy lights (if you have them) or candles. When you’re all set, gather the family, turn off the lights and let the action begin!
